What is it?
LiteEdit is a simple little program that allows you to edit the lights used in a Marathon level. It also allows you to print a light sheet with info about all the lights on a level. This is (to me) a very useful thing to have lying around when you are making a level.

It's pretty stable, so you can use it without fear.

Quick Start
 Open LiteEdit
Choose Open from the File menu.
 Open your map

What do I see?
The leftmost list shows the levels and the next list shows the lights. Note that the lights start at zero. If you are using Pfhorte, which starts the numbering at 1, you will have to add 1 the light number displayed number.

The set of radio buttons let you chose the mode, the popup menu lets you choose the type.

The area on the bottom should provide some helpful assistance with the lighting types. Most of that info came from the Mia! manual.

What matters?
Not all of the settings make a difference in the game.
Mode: Turning On (T-ON) is the same as ON just as Turning Off is the same as OFF. Toggle does not work.
Auto Trigger: Does nothing.
Max Intensity: only matters for some lighting types. The info on the bottom of the window should say which ones are needed.
Intensity: Does nothing.
Period: used for some.
Phase: used for some.

Why are they there? As the game developed, the way lighting was to be dome probably changed. I am leaving them in because they might be used in some way I do not know of. Just remember, Normal used the Min intesity.

Prefs
Numerics is the number system used in displaying light intensity.
Marathon: Just as it is in the map file. Values range from 0 to 2^31 (2147483648). Also used in Mia. The actual useable maximum value is about 100 times lower than 2147483648.
Pfhorte: intensity scheme used in Pfhorte. Values range from 0 to 2^15 (32768).
Percentage: Light intensity as a percentage. Not very useful, unless you are working in broad steps.
Show Type: shows a P, M or a % after the field in the main window. You probably want this on all the time, unless you always use one system.

Printing
Printing is easy, like in most standard Macintosh applications. Be sure you have selected a level in the level list. The just print as you would normally. The prntout should show the level name and other info. The state of the Auto Trigger record in not shown since it has no effect anyway.

Editing
Any values you enter will be stored but not saved until you save. Again, like in all Macintosh applications. Save As and Revert do not work (yet).
